Overview
Mentorise matches university students with approved peer tutors by major and course. Students chat with tutors in real time and accept lesson offers; admins review tutor applications and manage the course catalog. I built the Spring Boot backend, the React Native app and the React admin panel.
What I built
- REST API in Spring Boot over a MySQL data model, with JWT authentication and role-based access for students, tutors and admins.
- Real-time chat over WebSocket/STOMP, authenticated with JWT on every connection.
- Lesson offers that expire after three hours, scheduled lesson reminders and push notifications.
- A Gemini integration that explains why each recommended tutor fits the student.
